Signals and pavement markingsQuestion 95 of 296
A road seen from above with a yellow line on the left. Two lanes go up the hill, split by a white broken line. A grey truck is in the right lane. A red car is in the left lane.

A two-lane highway has an extra climbing lane uphill, as in the picture. You travel with most traffic and do not pass. Which lane should you use?

  1. The left lane, so fast cars can pass on the right
  2. The right lane
  3. Either lane, as you like
  4. The lane with the yellow line beside it
Show answer

Correct answer: The right lane

A climbing lane lets fast traffic pass slow traffic. All traffic keeps right unless it passes. Pass in the left lane and then return to the right lane.
